White and bright winter has arrived here in Niagara, with a snowstorm that closed many schools and businesses on January 15th. Unfortunately, that led to cancelling our monthly guild meeting!!! I didn’t want to cancel, in the hopes that the weather would clear during the day. However, we made the right call because the snow kept on falling Grimsby all day long. Dorothy De Rose has graciously agreed to move here presentation to our February meeting, which will bump out demo night into April. We’ll have to work out the details. How did you spend your snow day? You may have had to go to work or work from home, but did you find some time to sew as well? I am hoping our members are progress on your block of the month quilts; 12 interesting star blocks make up the built in sashing when put together. How about the President’s Challenge for the year? Playing with colour value and Half Square triangles. Both are to be finished for our June meeting.

The biggest news for our guild is the move to a new venue starting in February; the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre at 162 Livingston Avenue in Grimsby. It is right behind the Town of Grimsby offices, and should be easy to find. If you enter at the east/side entrance (Main Entrance), you will find the elevators just to your right. On the second floor go left out of the elevator and our meeting room is just down the hall. Or you can take the stairs which brings you almost right to your room. We’ll make it noticeable and hop to have a few greeters at the main doors to guide you.

PLEASE BYO Beverage in a lidded cup as we will not be serving coffee or tea. You may also pack a snack to enjoy, if you so desire. This will likely be the norm going forward; there are several Time Hortons and a Starbucks very nearby.

I was looking forward to sharing my January Top Ten List at the meeting that was cancelled, perhaps I will email it to our members just for fun.

Feel free to browse the rest of our website and see what we are all about. Guests are always welcome for a $10 entry fee at the membership table at the door. Next meeting is February 19th, from 7 – 9 pm
Meeting room doors open at 6:45 pm
Thank you
